Nikon 24-70 decision time

Congrats on you new camera. Tough choice on the lens. Buy an optically superior lens, smaller lighter lens, but it only fits one camera body and is slower, or buy a faster, but slightly lower optical quality lens, that fits multiple bodies.
Why did you buy the Z system? What are you planning to shoot with it? Maybe the answers to those questions will help inform your decision.

I love my Z2.8. The S glass will definitely make a difference. The lens is one of my favorites. Happy shooting!
