Dystopian Leaning Tower of Dallas

Here's an Infra Red version of the Leaning Tower of Dallas. I used a full spectrum IR camera with a 750 NM filter, and converted the image to B&W. Gives it a real gritty, grim look.

Is that sucker still standing? Keep seeing articles like Day 4, Day 5 & Still Standing. At least you know the core was well engineered.

According to the news it may be a week or more before they get it down to a level where they can use bulldozers. Central building cores are very solid, that's why they are a great place for shelter during tornadoes.

They are using a small wrecking ball to bang it down. News last night said another 2 or 3 days.

Very cool looking disaster. Glad you got a shot of it before they knock it down. I saw the original attempt to blow it down on TV last week and wondered how they would approach the structure in it's hazardous state.

I confess that I am a local and did not make a sojourn to photograph it. Your shot is a good one.

It's still there, I drove past it this noon. A bit shorter & more battered. Big crowds around the all vantage points where parking is available. There were even a few people in costume - I wish I had time to stop and see what they were doing.

Neat one, Steve. Looks like you got there just in time.
