I purchased Steve Perry's Nikon A/F book a while ago. Once again when Nikon came out with a new camera, in this case the D780, Steve is providing a free upgrade to current owners with a new chapter.

I've learned more from Steve Perry and his backcountrygallery.com than any other source! The cost of his e-books is a mere pittance in cost compared to what they offer!! I've been using back-button focus,ISO Auto and other techniques for years now..All garnered from his E-books , videos and Tutorials!!

Wll, technically you paid for the right to read the book - you do not own it. So while it's great that he is providing an update for the 780, if he were a bad dude he could make alterations and not say anything.
In fact, since e-books are not owned in the same way printed books are, it allowed Amazon to recall copies of George Orwell's "1984" and "Animal Farm" due to legal issues with Orwell's estate.

Understand what that meant - those who purchased a paperback copy of the book did not find them suddenly missing one day, as did the folks who found the books gone from their Kindles (and a refund paid to their accounts).
The point is, intellectual property in the age of digital media is an entirely new animal.
