Took a long time to get this set up. Had every part of my body crossed, fingers, toes, eyes etc. when I saw them together. Been trying for many moons to get this chance with no success til this happened. Saw these two characters drifting along the shore near a bunch of fishermen cleaning their catch. Was lucky to be in the right spot at the right time as they passed in front of me. Took a long time to catch this opportunity and probably will be the only one I will ever even see. It's not often when you find these two birds together as one prefers fresh water and the other one salty brine.

Congratulations........and thanks for the history about them. I didn't know much about the species and their differences but they are quite attractive just the same.

Am to old to get real excited, not good for the ticker. But I did do a little jig when I checked the pic on the camera. Thanks for the kind comment.

I am watching a series from National Geographic’s about what the photographer has to go through to capture that once in a lifetime shot. Sometimes months are involved. Time to scout out an area, etc.
So now you are in their same league.

Wish I was, but no I ain't. Been at these two hobbies for longer than I can remember. This pic was one on my birding "bucket list" for many years. Like is said before it is quite rare to see these two birds (together) in the same area. I have to really thank the bunch of fishermen whom were cleaning their catch just a few metres from where I got this pic. There were the real reason this happened. I was justl lucky enough to be in the vicintiy at the time.

Both in focus-yay! Is this a vertical shot or a crop?

Yes, luckily was had close to the right settings set up for a previous shot to make this happen. This pic is a slight crop as the birds were quite close to me. Thanks for looking and commenting.

They are beautiful and sharp.

Ah, to me all birds are beautiful even these critters. Thats especially true as they glide over the waves just inches above the water. Thanks for looking and commentingl

Great capture, Ron.

Thanks Earnest for looking and the kind comment. This pic was taken in your neck of the woods at Goose Island SP just north of Rockport. Fantastic birding area in the USA.
