The Sherman's Florida Fox Squirrel only exists in parts of Central Florida and Southern Georgia. Almost extinct due to over development of farms and ranches. My wife and I snapped this one by sheer happenstance (I thought it was a huge grey squirrel on steroids).

I think this was called the eastern fox squirrel, which always puzzled me, as it looked nothing like the fox squirrels found in Kansas. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Bob Mevis is absolutely correct. I'm not sure that I have seen a squirrel as beautifully colored as this one. A rare and really great capture.

Don't believe this is an Eastern. Coloring not the same. Can't find any info on how they got to Florida.

The second shot is the best--both are fine! I've lived in FL for 16 years and never seen one of these!
