What is it with these pseudo-intellectuals trying to convince us that black and white is THE way to go. I think that the B&W shots are dull and boring. This is the first time that we've had some street photography in color, and it is fresh, exciting. Really draws you into the scene. Bottom line is that my eyes see in color, not B&W.

The history of B&W is that it started out on newspapers and it has remained an icon of sorts for street photography.

Not sure about the pseudo-intellectuals to whom your referring, but I tend to agree with you in regards to viewing in BnW. My point of the challenge was to try something new - Street Photography - it's NEW to me. Generally it is presented in BnW - some images I like in BnW and others I don't - but isn't that with all photography genre's?

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I like the main st Berlin. Your eyes are drawn to the people walking down the street then across to the sign and it conveys the message that they are looking for somewhere to dine on a cold and wet night

So this year I've decided that I'm going to branch out and try new things with my photography. Street Photography is my first new genre and it is definitely "outside my comfort zone". I shoot mostly wildlife and landscape so this one was a tough one for me.....now I'll admit that when I choose this topic I thought it was something entirely different but a fellow UHH'er whom I asked advice set me straight (thanks SueScott!!!).

So show me what y'all have.....here's my first attempt at street photography.

A really nice start, GiGi. It is an excellent challenge. Thom Jule conducted a street photo shoot in 2015 as part of the Photopalooza many attended. He has also written a book on the subject. Might want to PM him about the genre and inquire how to get his epistle.

I have a few to share.
