The Bald Eagles show up here from Canada for only 6 weeks to feast on our spawning salmon. Then they disappear. However, we do have some year-round residents that stay in Idaho. When they are spawning, I can usually get as close as 125 feet because the trees act as a cover and they are so busy catching fish, they don't get too skittish. Northern Idaho is 85% forests, many lakes and mountains about the same as Maine.
