Good evening Mr. Yankle, you look kinda familiar, did you by chance serve on any DDG's as the chief engineer during your tenure of service?

Absolutely. After I left the boat I went back to Idaho as an instructor at S5G. Qualified as EOOW and worked with the officer trainees. Met the man twice- the most impressive( not physically, obviously) intelligent person I ever knew. A friend of mine in my sub vet group worked for Rickover for many years, Edwin Evering. He has some great tales working for him also.

I too made Engineering Officer of the watch, gotta love those drills,

Thank you for your service, each and every one of you.

I very much appreciate your kind words! As it is, I make it a point to bear in mind that countless professionals outside of the military make great sacrifices too. Somehow, I've a intuitive mind that says you are one of them.

Well now, just to make sure you ain't telling no sea stories here, have you ever cleaned any bilges, taken any stack covers off, done any low water drills, gone through any OPPRE's, got woke up in the middle of the night for GQ drills, and last but not least, had to deal with an ensign that knew way more than did? Ever spend a little time playing cards in the toad locker? Best to you and yours ya old salt!!!

Are they vets:?: They lost, even more reason to honor them, and be thankful for that!

Times change, while we don't agree with their reasoning for 1776, they are still vets. (Although I don't think they have any, vets from 1776, still on active duty.) :D

I totally agree! It would be like asking the new neighbor whether any of his ancestors served under Lee (or Grant for that matter), during the Civil war.
