Inpaint is a FREE program that can help. After using this program, then some touchup in PS, PSP, GIMP, etc will finish the job.

I used "Inpaint" on the pic you posted and got this result. Needs to have final work done but you can see how much has been taken care of in just a couple minutes.

If you are referring to my "fix" I used the FREE program 'InPaint'

If this was my pic, I would then use PSPx4 to finish touching up the post, etc that are not quite right.

Change the setting in the camera firmware so it does not happen again. Should have a "settings" in the menu and you turn that OFF.

Thanks for the info and the fix. I do not have any software. I will look into these.

That is one of the FIRST things I make sure is turned off when I get a camera (and the FIRST thing my sister wants to turn ON!! LOL!!).

I would rather add the date later if I need it than to fight to get it removed (hidden).....

InPaint, Picasa and GIMP or GIMPshop are all FREE programs to help with this.

You can also use Photoshop Elements which is a less expensive variation of PS. You use the "stamp" tool copying areas with no text into the are with text.

I have the Canon SX50. A friend of mine borrowed it to take to Europe. I edited 400 photos, all with the date stamped on them. Does anyone know if it's possible to delete this and if so, how?

Even easier in PSE: Use the healing brush (the one that looks like a bandaid with a dotted circle beside it), paint over the entire date, wait a second or two, and poof! date gone.
To be honest, I do not know with what version of PSE this was introduced, I'm using v9 at the moment.

Yes, there should be something in your manual that tells you how to do this. its very easy. I hate the dates on my pic's..

Personally I think cropping is a better idea on this one unless you remove the fence as well. The fence messes up an otherwise interesting picture.

You could also remove the fence with the clone tool but it would take more careful work and IMHO not add to your photo.

Why don't you want to crop it?

ohhh the date is already ON the picture. yes.....for future "dates" you can program your camera. THe "cloning" idea is good too.
