I set my time delay to two seconds, and when I hit the shutter button, I say “blink.” Works for me.

When shooting groups using flash, after the flash I ask if everyone sees spots in their eyes. If anyone says "no" then I take another. I ask again after each shot until everyone says "yes".
I used to shoot fashion pictures with 8x10 view camera and had to make every shot count. I would count and release the shutter on 3 and worked very well.

For one person-- easy.. for a group... not easy. Perhaps asking everyone to close their eyes and open them on signal "open" ... people will blink it is natural so take the opposite "close your eyes and open when I say open.
Taking several shots as in HDR but with close to 0 exposure range gives source for cloning in eyes that were shut. While 4K burst will work, the pix are significantly reduced, but for many photos 8 mpix is OK.
When I and the students were in a 9th-grade algebra class .. fist period... I told a few who were perpetually dozing to have their eyelids tattooed
with the appearance of opened eyes.

That made me laugh out loud!
I use the countdown method and it works every time. I tell the group that I will countdown from 3 and then take the picture at either 2 or 4 any number but 0 but close enough to zero that the group does not change. Works every time.

When taking pic do a countdown out loud.
While counting down click away. If silent mode is used they’ll have no idea.
Da blink comes mostly from the "pre flash" that cameras use to set the exposure. I set my back button to FV lock,(the jagged litte flash icon on my menu), then before I shoot, I give the button a push. As long as you don't change distances between exposures, the exposure will be right on. If you move, do it again!
My daughter in law must have the fastest blink reflex in the Universe, but when I used the "pre flash" Got her!
