Buy from authorized dealers like Adorama, Amazon, B&H, Cameta, Costco, Crutchfield, Hunt's, KEH, Robert's, and probably some others. An authorized dealer will be approved by the manufacturer, so it will be reputable, and the prices will be just about the same from one seller to another.

I would add the National Camera Exchange in Golden Valley, Minnesota. They have a web page natcam.com

Are there any cameras or lenses made in the USA today in 2020?

The OP is mistaking "Made in USA" with a "USA product." In the camera world, a "USA camera" or "USA lens" it an item manufactured specifically for sale in the US market. It is not an item "Made in USA."

Grey market items are generally identical to the USA model. They are made in the same factory from the same parts. The difference is that grey market is technically not eligible for the USA warranty. These days most manufacturers will honor the warranty in the USA if you can provide a receipt/invoice. However, the terms of the warranty may still be the foreign warranty. i.e. If the USA warranty is 1 year and the foreign warranty is 60 days, even if returned for warranty in the US, grey market goods may only be eligible for the 60 day warranty. In any case, honoring the warranty on grey market items is at the discretion of the manufacturer.

It is my understanding that Nikon still does not honor warranties on grey market items.

Run away as fast as you can. Use a well known reputable dealer like B&H or Adorama.
