You, my friend, are on the right track. What lighting did you use?

25” Globe beauty dish with the reflector removed. Flashpoint 600 head. I had 2 Nikon speedlights pointed on a white background. Couldn’t be simpler... I did add the background and some basic post processing. Pretty much out of camera... Thanks for asking...

Nice portrait indeed. I too am a D750 owner happy with the camera and still learning it. So here's my non professional take on the portrait. The shadows created by your main underneath the noses could be lessened by a white board or similar modifier in front and below the subjects. And my other comment would be with the split background. Again, I'm no expert, but there should be minimal distraction to the subjects. That said, the split background behind the gentleman is somewhat distracting to the portrait. Otherwise continued good shooting. What was your lens of choice?

Nikon 24-120 f4. At about 52mm. It was a quick shoot so no fussing with white cards, etc. All the lights I used were already setup. Not sure I agree with you on the background.. I like it.... Thanks for looking..

Ahh the "kit" lens, also in my arsenal. It gets a bad rap from time to time but still has it merits. As long as your content with the image, that's all that matters. I can see the chemistry you have with your subjects. I was thinking if the background behind the lady was continuous behind him as well it might give a different look and feel. But I've learned something as well.... thanks.

I like the original compared to this one. The exposure, white balance, and poise makes the image "pop" for me. Your D750 will continue to inspire 😎
