I've been reading some bad stacking reviews for the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS. Any Hoggers have similar experiences with this lens?

I can't find a bad review. What did the review that you saw say?

Unless it is a really bad lens, one can use any lens for stacking with good results!

I use the lens and never got other than the sharpest images with it. I saw an article somewhere that listed as among the 10 sharpest lenses available among all current lenses. That said, I've found it easier to capture images for stacking with manual focus lenses. Focus-by-wire makes it more difficult to to hit a precise focus point and that might be the author of that article's problem.
I don't have any SONY Cameras. Any quality lens can be used for focus stacking. The secret is to collect enough images and small enough focus intervals. You can use manual focus for landscapes. Using the cameras focus motor with software (maybe in camera) is good to 1:1 with a macro lens. A computer driven rail is necessary for greater magnification. Your camera and subject need to be still of course.
That’s one of the best macro lenses on the market, but there really are no bad macro lenses out there, even the 3rd party ones perform very well.
