Here's a comparison of the autofocus modules in the D610 and D750. The D610 can autofocus down to -1EV. The D750 can autofocus down to -3EV.

All camera's have bugs every once in a while. No camera manufacture can make a million flawless ones. This said the Nikon D610 was produced because Nikon missed the boat on the D600. So, Nikon tried really hard not to mess up the D610. You will really like this outstanding camera, it is priced very nicely now and has a one year warranty. My advice to all new camera owners is to shoot the Sh-- out of your camera when you first get it. If something is going to go wrong, it will quickly, if not, you should be fine. Make sure to get a Nikon USA version of the D610.
I have never seen a better deal from Nikon. A D610 outfit retailing for $1996.95 is now $1100.00 off and is currently selling for $895.00. WOW, what a deal. And B&H is an authorized USA Nikon dealer.

Some of the first released, what was found in research in 2015 now some 6 to 7 years from release date.
Mine has served me well. No mechanical problems that I know off.
I love my D610! Paired with the Nikkor 24-70 2.8G ED, it can handle so much. Recently took a bunch of photos at Westminster Dig Show in Manhattan. Very challenging because of the bright lights and distance across the ring. Still, managed to get some shots of this two year old giant schnauzer, Bayou. Love the 610 (makes me feel like I can keep improving). I think you will like it too. ~

It's a good camera, but it carries the stigma of the D600 and its oil spots. If Nikon had not used the 600 family name, it would have sold better.

I have had mine for several years without any problems. My mistake was the 24-300 zoom I bought with it. Very soft.

Disagree, the Nikon D610 has built a strong following. NO OIL SPOTS REPORTED, NOT ONE. And, it sells just fine with the 600 family name thank you.

Very true. I had the D600 sent it in for shutter replacement no more problems ,gave it to my brother after getting the D850.

Unless you are specifically interested in the small format body, I suggest that you at least look at some other choices before buying. When I was looking at expanding into full frame format a couple of years ago, I bought a really nice used D610. When it arrived, I was immediately impressed by the images it captured, but completely put off by the small body. All the controls were too close together and in the wrong place, (and some were missing), and the menu structure did not work for me at all. Within 10 days, I had traded it for a D810, which I still have and use alongside a D850.
Your preferences and experience might certainly be completely different, certainly. But there are several other options available that aren't too much different in price from the D610. I'd encourage you to at least consider them. The D750 that has been mentioned is a "full size" camera. The D810 and D850 are professional cameras that you can shoot all day without ever having to access the menus.

Now is the time to buy. It's on sale with grip and lens, I believe.
My 610 works very well didn't think I would use the hi iso so much but it sure works fine.

Great pix...I agree it is a good camera I switched to the 750 for low light abilities
