It was after 4:30 and I needed to get to the store and that meant a 30 mile trip when I knew that we were going to have a sunset worth photographing. It is winter, of course, and those good sunsets are rare. I hated leaving my beloved (and over photographed) lighthouse but sometimes life has other priorities. Where I was going had a lighthouse too, with a small detour but my timing (stopping along the way to photo other things) meant I was not going to make it there on time. I was already on a route I do not know well and was wondering where I could stop and get some of the color I saw starting on the lake. I had forgotten there was a state park on my route and I came upon it at the right time. Oh, my 30 minute normal travel time to the store became almost 2 hours, but I am ok with it.
I edited the photos very carefully because I wanted to preserve how naturally beautiful the colors were that night, so vibrant and definitely, so very awesome.
