My experience with Xfinity/ Comcast. They just doubled my "rental fee" on the t.v. cable box I'v been paying for for more than 5 years.

It's not a lot of fun. You can buy modems at such at electronics stores. But make sure you get the right thing, with high enough speeds, and including voice if you have an online phone. However, it will probably take a good sixteen to twenty months to come out ahead financially. After that it's gravy.

I tried that though, and after a while things changed, and my purchased modem didn't work anymore, with the new service anyway. (it didn't have voice) It is a racket. They get you coming and going, and everytime I turn around they change things on me. Still, they have excellent customer service, great tv service, in terms of beautiful pictures, and such.

Well, I have looked at other services, and not so happy with them either.

I just reduced my triple play package as they jumped my bill over $50. I just do not want to pay that much. Tried checking out other providers , they say call the provider I have now. They stopped stealing customers from each other. The only people they will try to switch over now are sattelite customers. I believe I have the right to have more than 1 option according to law. If they get to out of hand with the package I have now , I'll drop them for a year till they make me a better offer. I did it about 3 years ago. I have been a customer with them for over 20 years & they just signed my niegbor up with the package I use to have $30 less than I was paying, no increase for life. Go figure.

I have Xfinity. I called them and told them I did not want to pay the additional rental box fee. They adjusted it.

My experience with xfinity is that you do not accept the first price they give you. Play hard to get and act like that is not right for you, which it usually isn't. I have found that when customer service hears upgrade what they really hear is, "I want everything you've got plus the porn channels." Well, strike that last part, it is a joke, but you get the idea. Argue with them a little bit. It seems they find unexpected packages that will have what you want at a lower price.

Get in touch with customer service and ask to reduce your bill. Especially if you have been with them a long time. Ask for the supervisor and get connected to the customer retention department. I do that every couple years. When they balk a little I just say thank you and tell them I am going to another service. Works every time.

We spend 2 months a year in Palm Beach County Florida. We’ve been here 3 years. 1st year I bought the modem from XFINITY/Comcast. The next year it was no longer compatible so I had to rent it another and lose the money I spent on the one I bought. Added 2 HD antennas to the condo & that didn’t work too well. Broadcast channels faded in and out.
This year...new approach.
Called & checked if a certain modem/router was compatible which was advertised on Amazon. Took 30 minutes or less to install. Works beautifully.
THEN, I decided to go a different route for TV service, YouTube TV. I highly recommend it. All the major networks plus every cable channel I watch including Motor Trend, Discovery, History, and much more. $56/month total. 6 devices.
I am now going to do the same for Optimum in NY. $280 a month, when we go home. Ridiculous. It will give me great pleasure to return my modem & DVR cable boxes. I have complained to both companies that their prices were outrageous and that they’re not seeing the handwriting on the wall.
I did have recent arguments about the bill and how much I signed up for. They never told me I had to sign up ONLINE for autopay and paperless billing in order to get the discounts I was told I would get.
They will sneakily add every charge they can until you complain.
Lastly, if you talk to 5 reps, you’ll get 5 different answers.
Sorry for my ranting.
This has been my 2¢.

Problem with most streaming services is they limit simultaneous streams to 2 or 3 at a time, so if you are watching a show on 3 devices, the 4th gets denied access to the service.

In my house, I need 3 or 4 simultaneous streams over at least as many devices

Call them and ask for the Customer Retention Department. Tell them you can't afford the new rate, so you're going to cancel, unless they give you a better rate. They always have given me a much better rate.

When I lived in the hills of Vermont, satellite TV was the ONLY way to go, and we had the option of purchasing the box or renting. We bought it and within a year, it paid for itself. Verizon doesn't give me that option. The only option I got with Verizon was that I could buy a Verizon router from Amazon or rent theirs. $100 for a router was a lot cheaper than adding yet ANOTHER "fee" to my Verizon bill.

Customer service????
The campground I have my camper in, comcast is NOT going to prodive service anymore. All was get is basic or basic+ and internet. This is going to affect ALL campgrounds, to the best of my knowledge. comcast does NOT like seasonal campers. All comcast wants is YOUR money. They charge us $100 re-connect fee every May. I plug the router into the cable, not them, and they flip a switch. IF something happens at the site, I have to pay an installer to come out and fix their error.
Campground is looking towards Dish network.

I had xfinity and I noticed in your comment they have excellent customer service I found them to be the worst they would tell you one thing if you had a bill problem and say it would be corrected on the next bill and that wouldn’t happen they have a great product but the worst customer service and the highest fees of any provider.

Fortunately, we’re only 2 in our household.

I have found the same thing with Cox Cable. Even a couple of their repairmen have told me that the bill goes up significantly after a while. They suggested calling the cable company to complain and tell then there are other cable companies. The price will be adjusted in your favor for maybe six months. Then call them again and again.

I honestly don't know what service my home has, but at the studio I've had ATT for many years and they did okay. Then one of their sales guys comes by and sells me a faster internet package. I did see installers putting in new lines! I waited for a couple of months but nothing happened, so I called them only to find out, as expected nothing had changed. So I wait longer, then contact the sales guy, who stated it was going to happen shortly. Well, I'm a patient guy but have my limits. I finally found out they just sold me sold me a package they don't offer in my part of town. The installation guys I had seen were with Comcast. So I switched to Comcast, so for about a year things have been good. We bought our own equipment too.
