The era is 50s and 60's. The tank is, I think an M-60 Main Battle tank.

The airplane is a T-33 Shooting Star. It 1st flew in 1948 & was still in use by fighter interceptor squadrons as an intercept trainer target for new pilots assigned to squadrons. I was assigned to the 48th FIS at Langley AFB, VA in 1985-86. We had 1 of the oldest T-33's still in active service. The Bolivian Air Force retired their last T-33 in 1987.

The jet is the trainer version of the Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star, introduced in 1945. I believe it was the first operational jet fighter for the US.

Not to be picky, NikonJohn, but this is the 2 seater version which makes it a T-33. It was developed from the P-80 & outlived it's ancestor by many years.

Tank is the M60A3, it's the last of the Patton series tanks that begin with the M48.
I never crewed the 60A3, but spent my formative years on a 48A3.

T-33's are still seen at air shows, etc. And I think I recently saw one doing "chase" duty on the first flight of one of Boeing's latest airliner prototypes.

In 1948 I was 8 years old and living at the end of one of the runways at O'hare Airport. We used to run out of the house and look up when we heard one of these going over. Then, we got to see the Sabre Jets a few years later. A great time in America when we all looked forward, not backward like today.

Yes, the Navy had some of those planes when I was in an A4 Attack Squadron back in the 60's and 70's. It was indeed used as a trainer for young reserve A4 Pilots.

The plane is a T-33 . I worked on these 1966-69 at McDill AFB in Tampa. They were used as Trainer Aircraft at that time. I then got transferred to Anchorage and worked on B-57 aircraft.
