Hibiscus Seed at 10X Magnification and 4X Magnification Views

This is a Hibiscus seed that I found in a pod of the plants along our fence. I had the 10X microscope objective already setup on the camera so I decided to get the most out of it today.
Below is the seed at a 4X microscope objective view to give a sense of what it looks like in its entirety. Illumination for these sessions was provided by constant LED with diffused heads.

Ken, here's a short article that shows everything that you need in full detail. It is easy to read and it has pictures showing how it's done. It's the article that got me started on this high magnification journey.

It's really quite easy and very inexpensive, less than $50 for everything needed. I highly recommend AmScope as a source of microscope objectives. A knock-your-socks-off 4-power finite objective is about $16 new and a 10-power is about $35 new and they are great quality.

BOY, do I understand. Got an inkling of an idea and decided tear down the stage and rework it........hoping to have more control with lighting and staging.........

I completed a stacking session of a Woodlouse using parchment paper as a lens hood for the microscope objective. I use a dual fiber optic lamp head with a halogen light generator that I can vary the intensity of the lighting. IF....it worked out, I'll post it a bit later. If it didn't work out then I have to reconsider my Vodka and Diet Cola.

Yes, please advise me of your results........I'm waiting for some parts to complete the build(unless I get another bright idea) but I ran some experiments with parchment paper diffusers on my twin ring flash.

Actually....that's how I came to be known as "Sippyjug". I was quite a weekend-warrior 20-years ago at our lake house where I would pack a Coleman picnic cooler with ice and put a slug of frozen lemonade in with it and pour in the entire 750ml of Skyy Vodka. As the ice and lemonade would melt we would all "take a sip" from the jug. After a few weekends as I would walk down the pier toward the boat they would call out, "Come On Sippy Jug".
