I never traveled outside my home state until after I lost my daughter. It took me 4 years get up and shooting again. I never realized just how beautiful our country is. Just wanted to share a little bit of my travels. Some of these pics were drive by shootings. Oregon, Washington

The way people travel these days is by airplane. My wife and I prefer to go by road. We jump in the mustang and end up where ever the road takes us. Then you really see how beautiful America is.

I hope you continue to enjoy what we have.

Very nice set.
My wife once said, after a 3 week road trip from San Francisco to Dever, I don't know why an American would want to trave outside of America, except to chase history.

We do have an awesome, endlessly fascinating landscape. I hope you continue to explore it, all of it. Come to SW New Mexico for some great scenery. And bring your daughter in your thoughts. I'm sorry you lost her. How old would she be now? You have a good eye for landscapes. Get a polarizing filter; it will become your new best friend.

Thank you all so much. I have spent the last 4 years traveling. I average 30k pics a year, (on the low side). Every time I thought it could not get more beautiful it did. Back roads all the way, all the little towns. I had just left Paradise CA when the fire came through. I have pics of Mt Ranier where it was so smokey and fire coming along side the road, then going to Mt St Helens the next day. I have no where to post but here and I have thousands. From Maine to Florida, Texas to ND, SD WY MT ID WA to northern CA. It's easier to name where I haven't been...yet. The redwoods are breathtaking. I have been in over 100 reservations finding my people and friends. Looking forward to heading to MN to see my mother and going back out west. I love it.

Cat,
A beautiful set of images! Hard to decide, but #2 is my favorite. Please keep on posting... and travelling!

America is very beautiful, but if you travel abroad, don't forget Thailand. Let us know if you come - my wife and I will buy you lunch!
Cheers,
Don

P.S. Offer good for all UHH members. 🙂

She would be 32 this Feb 27th. I was in NM in 2019. I think I may have that lens, I just never learned how to use it. I am not even sure I am using the correct lenses. I picked up the camera when 2 of my kids were deployed so if you could tell me which lens is the best for landscapes that would be awesome. I have a canon EOS Rebel t2i. I just use what came with it.

So you're coming up on her birthday. I'm not real tech-y. A polarizing filter is just something that goes on the front of a lens, something you screw onto it. When you rotate it, the colors deepen and the glare recedes. It makes Nature look her best, so to speak. I don't have a preferred lens for landscapes but think that some kind of zoom lens will give you the most options. Where in NM were you in 2019? You know, the "correct lenses" may be something you've glommed onto--there really is no correct lens. You just make do with what you have, and sometimes--often--that turns out to be the best. I usually only carry one extra lens, and sometimes I never use it. Nature is beautiful no matter what camera or lens you've got going. Do your best, always.
