Rex,

No sir, it's a Caseo g2. It meets Mil specs. Since I'm a fire fighter I need a phone that can withstand water and temperture ranges.

Blake

Blake, I'm gettig rid of my Droid as well and looking for a tough flip phone with Military specks as well, how is that Caseo?

Take a look here. I live gently, so I've never had a cell phone break.

Hello Folks,
The other day I was walking my dog on my property. We came upon a immature retail hawk that was on the ground. It just watched us it did not feel threatened. Thank goodness thoses tallons are sharp and the beak is too!! The only camera I had was in my cellphone. It took an ok general picture but I tried to use photoshop 10. I tried to crop it, that was ok. Then I tried to zoom in and the result was a totally blown picture with over piculated image. I will not share the garbage that I came up with because it was that bad. Any suggestions as to what I could do to get a nice image?

Thanks
Blake

I almost always have my 8mp point and shoot Canon with me. Cell phone take lousy pictures. The SD1100i Canon takes ok images but they are full of data that won't get pixelized and you can work with them in post.

I Am hooked on my Iphone but spent $70 on a "Lifeproof" case. Waterproof to six feet, will withstand a 3-4 foot drop, dustproof. I have walked into the surf with it in my pocket and dropped it several feet with no damage. They ought to call it "idiotproof"!

That reminds me of a book I saw in the Library, "Job Hunting for Dummies." I think a dummy would need more than this book to help him get a job. Of course, first he'd have to be smart enough to check out the book.

I can just picture the scene. You and several other guys are making your way through a burning house, looking for survivors. Suddenly, your phone rings. "Hold on guys. It's the wife. I've got to take this. Yes, dear, I can stop at the store on the way home. Let me find a piece of paper - whoops, it burned right up."

Blake, don't let some of the folks here get you down. I have learned that there are 2 classifications of photographers here at the hogg:
1. wannabees: quick with the smart ass remarks
2. Professional: quick with sharing their knowledge

Granted the iphone is looked upon with a bit of disdain by some of the photophiles here but non the less it is a camera. I personally have an Apple 3gs and have made close to a thousand pictures with it, sold several and entered several in a couple contests with 2 winning, both published. I also carry a Nikon D3100 for serious shooting, but it won't fit in my pocket.

Don't let them get you down, continue on and when you have a problem or question remember the Hogg is here to help. One thing I might suggest is if you have a question about one of your shots post it, w can better help if we see what your problem is.

Down the page you said you just got a flip phone that is millspec. And that it is a Casio G2. If that is a Casio Brigade, I may be of some help. I have one and it has, by far, one of the best cameras of any phone on the market. The main thing you may want to do when using it's camera is set the resolution to the 2048x1232 setting, rather than the 2048x1536 one. Then option 5 kicks in it's zoom mode. The 2048x1536 has no zoom mode for tech reasons. This may not help with the photo under question, but can be a big help in the future. I do a lot of work with mine as well as with my Pentax dslr and nearly everything I have shot can be zoomed to the max with still very good quality and then when scanned into my computer I can zoom and crop quite well. Now on the computer, I can zoom up to garbage if I so wish, but I just stop before the pixels get crappy.
