I have a Lumix DMC-FZ70 and it's newer brother the DMC-FZ80. They both have a 20-1200 lens and they both take great pictures. They are available at new or used at a very reasonable price.

Am spending two weeks in the British Virgin Islands on a sailboat. I don't want to take my "good" Sony camera and lenses as we'll be traveling light and dingying to shore daily. Any suggestions for a point and shoot camera between $100-$300? Thanks in advance!

I have a Fuji xp130 to use when I am concerned about water such as the gulf coast shoreline or rafting a river. Nothing fancy, but does the job & saves from worrying about my good DSLR’s. Would fit your budget easily. My two cents worth.

I have a Fuji XP 120 which I use at the beach and in water. Does the job. Here is a pic I took with it. When I purchased it I was debating buying the Olympus Tough 5 but settled on the Fuji because of price. Around $150 vs 400. Did not think the IQ was going to be that much better for the money. Had a Nikon waterproof camera that leaked after three years which cost a lot more. The Fuji is still going strong after three years and if it craps i'll just buy another one. FWIW

I agree with Olympus! TG 6 is latest but prior models are available with some searching! Enjoy our cruise!

I'm going on my 3rd bareboat charter in the BVI's with the same friends I have sailed with before and I'm certainly bringing my good camera. The dry bag is a good idea, and I also like to bring some desiccant packs, too. I'm not sure if it really helps but when I'm in a moist environment I keep my camera equipment in ziplock bags with desiccant packets in them, and just take out the camera when it's time to use it... ie., don't leave it laying around in the boat when it's "off duty."

Have decided to go the dry bag route (ordered one minutes ago) with the good camera. Good suggestion about ziplock bags with desiccant packs!
Thanks to all who responded! Might pursue one of the suggestions for a point and shoot/compact/bridge camera in the future.

It's not a point and shoot, it's a super zoom bridge camera with 4K video, shoots raw, 20mm to 1200mm lens, but still quite light at 22 ounces, the LumixFZ80, about $230 used or $300 new.
