I'm new and need all the tips and tricks I can get....thanks in advance
Greetings. Buy Used / Refurbished from: Nikonusa, bhphotovideo, and adorama.com. Buy as much power, megapixels, mm, etc, as you can afford. Try one thing at a time...Aperture Priority, Shutter priority, etc, until you understand it well. Then try something else. Learn your gear, to understand your features. Compare before you buy. Try a little of everything-people portraits, pet portraits, landscapes, travel images, product photos, macros, etc-until you figure out what you like best. Then really dive into that one thing. Forget the ‘Crop Frame vs Full Frame’ stuff. Have a good Crop Frame Camera, AND a good Full Frame camera to have the best of both worlds. With Nikon, you can use the same lenses on both format cameras. With some other brands, you can’t use one format lens on the other format cameras. Consider Affinity Photo for editing. You buy it once, and own it. Many other editing apps force you to buy, and renew, subscriptions. Learn to “see as a photographer”...noticing light, shadows, things beside, and behind, your subject, etc. This helps you avoid images with tree branches growing out of granny’s ear, light poles growing out of uncle’s head, etc. Quit quickly snap shooting. Take time to consider a subject, light it well, find the best angle, and so on. Stop “taking photos”, and start “making artistic images.” Carry model release forms for people to sign after you shoot their image. That lets you do as you please with your images. Print your copyright notice in your image prints. Have fun.
