Clyde Butcher show, Sanibel Island, FL through Feb 5

I just saw this exhibit today. If you are not familiar with his work I suggest you "search" it on the WWW. He is well known for his large format film B+W nature photographs. The prints are very large, too. If you are in the area I think you will find it worthwhile.

While you are there you may want to take the 4 mile drive through the refuge for viewing and/or taking pics of birds and other critters. Early morning and dusk are the best times for birds. Bring spotting scopes or binoculars if you have them.

The nature center and parking for it are free but the wildlife drive has a nominal cost. It's free if you have a lifetime pass from the Federal government already. For "seniors" it's the bargain of a lifetime - good everywhere in USA.

There is a $6 causeway toll getting onto the island, free to leave. The exhibit is at the Ding Darling NWR Nature Center which any GPS should be able to find easily. Address: 1 Wildlife Dr. Sanibel, FL 33957.

I would highly recommend it too!! I have been to his gallery down near Shark Valley in the Everglades at the recommendation of people here. He does mostly large format black and white. The resulting prints are stunning.

A few years back I by accident found Clyde's gallery on the Tamiami Trail. His work is incredible. I walked out of the gallery thinking "why do I even try?" (to do landscape photogaphy). I wish I now lived close enough to visit the exhibit but Colorado is a bit far.

Here are two pictures I took in 2014 at an exhibition of Clyde's work. This was in Salisbury MD.

If this question is for me, no I did not meet him. The staff member who answered questions, etc. was very nice and helpful, however. Clyde wasn't there at the time.

Clyde is a modern Ansel Adams. I have admired his work for a long time.
