From the outset, I am not by any stretch a professional photographer. I have for a number of months been amazed by the beautiful pictures posted here daily, and by reading the comments of the viewers to pictures and responses to questions posed. What a treasure trove of information and artistry. I live on a houseboat on the Gulf of Mexico with my little Rat Terrier, Gaby, in the historic section of Rockport, TX. It's a very small town and I find it to be quiet and beautiful. I have sunsets out of the bedroom window and aft deck, and sunrises out the front door. I will post some very nonprofessional local photos and apologize in advance for the quality. I recently gave my old Nikon D80 and lenses to my son, and I confess that these photos were taken with my Samsung Note 8. I am studying the different camera options discussed by the experts on this site. Thank you.

Lovey captures. And I must say; please never apologize for what you have or what you use to capture a moment or image. You have a good eye and post as much as you can. I am glad you are here and welcome.
I was in Rockport last February for a week and just love this town. I went on the Whooping crane tour on Thursday and Friday mornings and shot lots of pictures. Also I got lots of pictures just driving down the road by the coast. I have been meaning to post some of these for a couple of weeks but keep getting distracted. I had previously made a couple of posts of the whoopers.
I just sold my sailboat four years ago. I was thinking of moving to the coast and living in it but I am still in the DFW area to be close to my aging parents at least for now. I am going to return to Rockport at least just for the Oysters and some photo opportunities.
I attached two shots to show you how the weather was crappy on Wednesday when I was driving around.
Again, nice images and keep on shoot'n bro.

Very nice, keep up the good work.
Welcome to the forum. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

And where is the dog?
My favorite picture of her, I had my camera and took this at the humane society the moment they first brought her out.

Thank you once again for your kind words. Your pictures are great, showing amazing detail. I know the exact location on Fulton Beach Road. I am surprised at the variation of birds so close together on the pier. I don't recall noticing that. I hope you will make the trip down to Rockport, soon, the welcome mat is out for you. As for being a live aboard, I've found it to be wonderful. After almost 3 years I still think almost daily how blessed I am to be here, and on the water. As I mentioned before, life here is a bit like Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath, but that just adds color, and at times makes for interesting viewing. Living for almost 10 years in hotels when I had a demolition company, the space on my boat is actually a step up in size! As you can see, my grandson, Phineas loves it. I'll post a couple pictures of the boat. Thanks again, and I hope you do look me up if you make the trip again.
