Yes, but, of course, it's an easy pick for me given that our license plate reads SF4T9RS.

I was actually working in the City during the '81 season and for the '82 Super Bowl. I watched in a Fisherman's Wharf restaurant. What a party. Lots of good memories. "Forty F-ing Niners!!!!"

Well, I will tell you this - I was never a fan of my hometown Detroit Lions again after that.

The sheer joy was something to experience. The whole town partied all night, and folks in San Francisco can party.

Good luck! I haven't watched a Super Bowl in years, but I think I will tune in and cheer for the 'niners for old times' sake.

Just imagine if the 9ers win this one; they will have earned it. One of the things I like about the 49ers is the sense and the attitude of team---we did this/we can do this. A lot of teams say these things, but when you hear the 49ers say it, it just different.

Well....

It was a different era. As kids a friend and I used to ride our bikes out from the city to Cranbrook, where the Lions had summer camp back then. We would work out with the team and look for something useful to do, like shagging punts. Yale Larry could boom them pretty good and always appreciated the help. Imagine that! No security, no press. Well, Joe Falls might be hanging around. We were there the year George Plimpton was getting the crap knocked out of him by the Lion's defensive line for the sake of a book - Paper Lion I think it was called. Joe Schmidt, Roger Brown, Alex Karas, Gail Cogsdill, Terry Barr, Nick Pietrosante, Milt Plum, Bruce Maher, Dick Lebeau, Night Train Lane, Wayne Walker, Pat Studstill... yeah.

not even a Lions fan but those are names I also grew up respecting. Walker had a fine career as a SF sportscaster.

Great times and great players!!...I used to work part time at an Ace Hardware here in Florida and I was helping a real nice guy out a couple years ago, we got to talking, told him I was from Michigan, and he said he used to play football in Michigan. I said who did you play for, and he said the Lions..I said what is your name and he said Milt Plum!!!...he was on his 3rd wife!! Also my nephew played for the Lions starting in 82, he was a special teams player and a tight end when Billy Simms was their running back..Rob Rubick is my nephew. A defensive lineman for the 9ers Anthony Zettel, number 92, my grandson played high school football with him!

He never seemed to be able to find the right receiver either!

Lots of connections there and good memories.

Working on the farm a guy came into the farm market who looked familiar. It was Steve Juday from the national championship MSU team in the 60s.

I moved to San Francisco a couple years before the start of the Walsh/Montana/Rice dynasty. I grew up in Oklahoma, where almost everyone is Cowboys fans. I told my family I was switching to the 49ers, and then got to see the Niners beat the Cowboys. I've really been a fan of both all along. The Cowboys this year had a lot of talent, and in a few games they looked really good. So I think their failure was largely coaching. I guess Jerry thought that also.

One the other hand, the 49ers success this year was great coaching. The owners hired Kyle Shanahan at a very low state, and they gave him a couple years to use the great draft picks from their terrible record, and making some other good acquisitions. Those are the guys that are winning this season after going 4-12 last season. And Shanahan seems to make very effective game plans for the teams he plays. They've won with defense and offensive. Some games have been high yardage Garoppolo passing affairs, some games Kittle has made the difference, and then against the Packers, Raheem Mostert got 220 yards, and Garoppolo only attempted 8 passes (6-8). So it should be interesting to see what he has in store for the Chiefs.

One touching scene if you kept watching the Packers game until the trophy presentation, they got Mike Shanahan, Kyle's father, to present the NFC Championship trophy to John York, the 49ers owner, and York said no, give it to him, and points to Kyle. They are the first father and son to head coach a Super Bowl.
