Wishing for Snow?

We got lucky the other day - only 3" of snow. At what point in life do people stop wish for snow and start wishing for no snow? I bet it's when they have to clear the driveway and drive on slippery roads.

Hey Jerry.....go into cbc.ca/nl and look at some video on their recent blizzard. Now THAT’s when you start
wishing for no snow.

For all you snow lovers, come on up here in Northern New York and clear out my drive way after each snow storm. Saturday's night into Sunday morning in my home town we had 7" of snow.

Saturday night drove from MA to near NYC in snow. Not a lot of snow, it was cold enough that the roads weren't icy, but they were covered. Drove 85 miles on interstates before I saw the first lane marker on the road. Plows seemed to be waiting until it got a bit deeper to start plowing. Fortunately there were not a lot of people who wanted to drive under those conditions, but those who were on the road just had to make their own lanes. 3 lane roads became more like 5 lane roads. The last 65 miles were not too bad. Trip took 4 hours instead of 2.75. Got home past my bedtime.

Aww, snow days.
My home county school system in Western Kentucky had 10 days of "Weather Days" built into the school calendar and when they weren't used school got out the last week of May instead of the middle of June. We wanted good weather. In 9th grade we had the most rain for over 30 years and used a few of those Weather Days because some bridges in the valleys on the bus routes were under water. The first day of the rains to get us all home the bus crossed one bridge with nearly a foot of water flowing over the road way. (those country bridges over small creeks were built of either steel frames or reinforced concrete just for heavy rains and high water. Then in 12th grade we had the heaviest snows in 20 years and actually got a 4 day weekend out of it.

This my driveway. No fun cleaning it off when there is 7-10-12 inches or a foot
or more of snow. Then then end of it gets buried by the snowplows. Also not much

I stopped wishing for snow 49 years ago when I started driving truck. Now that I'm retired, I still don't like it.
