Some of the most vulnerable people are mothers, getting an infant or two settled into car seats, anyone loading groceries, etc. into their cars, or photographers of any gender loading or unloading their equipment. That's what the panic buttons on car keys or fobs are for. Helpful little gadgets!

OK, what is a CCP? I Googled it and the list of items CCP was an acronym for was large. The only thing that made sense in the list for safety at night was Concrete Cylinder Pipe. Somehow I don't think that is what is meant in this thread because if you are going to use an acronym in a forum post, it should be one that is commonly known and I never have heard of a Concrete Cylinder Pipe before.

Concealed Carry Permit = CCP

or in Florida Concealed Carry Weapons and Firearms License or CCW for short.

Thanks.

Concealed Carry Permit was not in the Google list. A concealed carry permit would not be very useful as paper won't save me from a thug. I would go for a concealed carry weapon.

The permit allows you to carry a weapon in a concealed manner. I can't speak for other states, but in Florida, that means a knife or firearm. It's just a different name with the same intent.

But you are correct, the permit or the license doesn't do much without the act of carrying said weapon.

Guess in some ways, it's a plus: traveling in China, day or night, you're rarely alone, though it does make it a bit difficult to get a people-less shot. 😀

If you can, go with a buddy. If you have cell coverage, check in now and them and let someone know where you are. Use red lenses - it will keep your night vision intact.

I live in a remote farming area, and the locations I visit at night are on private property (with permission). I don't fear attacks by people, but it is a little unnerving when the coyotes begin to howl in fairly close proximity. Since I usually do go alone and cell service is sketchy, I take our SPOT tracker (bought for husband who likes to hunt at night). It is fastened to my clothing so I don't lose it. It can send customized messages, track my location, and it has an SOS button if I should fall and injure myself. Thankfully, so far I haven't had to use it. It does give me a certain feeling of security.
