Nikon D800 Battery Door

Got a friend who broken one of the hinge tabs off the battery door on his D800.
I have never seen it. Battery door locks but comes off when opened.
I can get another battery door. Can anyone tell me if this
is a simply repair or is it better to take it to a repair tech.
Thanks

Simple exchange. Trouble is to find a source.

These (doors) can be removed when needed.

Yes, it seems like it is a broken plastic or metal hinge, that holds it in place, as you stated, after the door opens. It should be a simple job. Check to see if there is a You Tube Video, to instruct you how it is done. If not. Take to any Independent camera repair shop. Since you already have the part already. I assume the part was purchased from eBay.

No trouble. Nikon $3.90 + $9.95 shipping. Also available through Amazon, Ebay, and a number of other sellers.

Edited. It's an easy fix. Get a new door. Replace it yourself.

Here's a video for a d5300, but it's the same on my d7100. It should be the same for the D800. Hope that helps.

Contact Nikon tech support, I purchased a D810 battery door years ago from them.

It is designed to come off. It is removed when using a grip. They are easily replaceable. It is a spring hinge. eBay and Amazon sell the for less than $5.00

On the D800 series you don't remove the battery door when using a grip, in fact you use it for the main battery + one in the grip.

My D850 has a broken battery door. So I glued the pieces together. Lasted about one year until two weeks ago when it cracked off while returning from a trip. Glued it again.
Sounds like his issue is the "nub" end. I have another item that is a liquid glue that does not set until illuminated with a UV light source. You can easily make these nubs on items by putting the liquid on and then turning the item so the liquid forms a natural drop on the bottom. Hit it with the light and it turns into hard plastic. If I am not mistaken it is called Bondic, same principle they use in dentistry to set materials with UV light. I have used it to "make" other parts for things and it works great.

You are more persistent. I just used a bit of gaffers tape until the new door arrived.
