I’m awaiting delivery of a refurb 2017 iPad Pro and hope for
opinions on Affinity.

Does anyone use an iPad to edit images? Probably not if they have access to a computer with a larger display.

Only on the road or when the desktop is in the shop.

And by the way, Normy (Old Elmslie) did you really think I needed to be told that a larger display is preferable to a smaller one?
This kind of unnecessary, snide, know-it-all, pseudo-authority wannabe pompous crap is what got you excommunicated from some other sections and why I had you on ”Ignore” for a long time. You recently complained in public about the fact that I had you on Ignore for two years ...Gee...was it that long? Time sure flies when you’re having fun...so maybe it’s time for more ignoring of Normy?

I just wondered why you would bother with an editing program on an iPad when you can do a better job on a desktop.

But I guess you don't know any better. It explains a lot about some of the images you have posted.

And thanks for pitching another fit and showing everyone who you are.

... question of Selmslie does come across as you describe it, Uuglypher, unfortunately. If he were correct, then WHY would anybody create such apps for iPads? Does Selmslie have such a firm grasp of the market that he knows his assertion is correct? Has he recently ridiculed others who dare to do things differently from how he does them, or does he go out of his way to pick on you?

In my humble opinion, it’s okay for someone to disagree with somebody else’s approach/method, but that, in turn, usually entails explaining WHY so as to be constructive. I see nothing in Selmslie's posts on your topic that is constructive.

Tell us, Selmslie, what did I miss?

I have Affinity Photo on my iPad Pro, but haven’t used it yet. PS Express seems to work for me right now.

I simply asked, "Does anyone use an iPad to edit images? Probably not if they have access to a computer with a larger display."

If that was all it took to make Uuglypher fly off the handle and lose his composure then the problem is his, not mine.

Thanks, wing pilot,
Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I’ve had PS Express as well as Affinity in my Mac laptop and now in an IPad Pro for initial pp when absent from my desktop PC with PS and LR, but making the switch to Affinity has been, for me, a repeatedly clumsy process. I’m sure it’s the “old dog- new trick”:phenomenon at play!

I’m hoping to hear from someone who has made the switch to Affinity on the iPad and why they are pleased to have done so.

Thanks for responding to the intent of my original question!

Dave

I have used it just once for a focus stack and it worked well but the user interface takes some getting used to. I am a beginner even with affinity on the PC so not the best to give advice. It was much slower

I don’t use Affinity but do use Lightroom on my iPad Pro and it works great. The Pro resolution is great and being able to do some off loading and editing is great. My main machine is a 27 in iMac. If Affinity works like LR and Photoshop you will be happy.

Affinity has so many features and tools that I find it confusing to use. I suppose taking a class, even an online class would help me to understand what these tools are, what they do, and how/when to use them. There are terms I’ve never heard of and don’t know what they mean. I guess it’s the old dog thing for me, too.
