Welcome & good luck to you
Welcome! I too love to read (I usually read for at least an hour in bed before retiring since that seems to be when no one else in the house bothers me!). I love photography because you are always learning something. Have fun!
Welcome to the Hog, Jill, enjoy.
Welcome to UHH Jill. Lots of knowledgeable people here willing to answer questions. Sometimes, if you have question related to a specific subject, such as Landscapes or Macro, it is better to go to those sections and ask instead of the "Main Photography Section". There is also a "Ask the Pro's" section, where only certain members can answer your question.
Have fun shooting, and enjoy.
hi JustJill, I am also from Iowa and l was brought to adulthood in the Loess Hills near the Soldier, Maple and Little Sioux Rivers. What river do you live near? I'm guessing the Mississippi. Good luck with your photography. There are a many highly qualified people to answer your questions. My advice is simple. Get out there and take pictures.
You are correct I am on the Mississippi. I see it says that you are from St. Joseph Mo. I was there for the solar eclipse, and again late June when all the flooding was happening. My friend says that area is still above flood stage. At least we are below flood stage now.
Great advice, thanks.
Thanks. I am still finding my way around and have subscribed to some of those sections that look interesting, one of them being "ask a pro"

The eclipse was a bust here in Joetown, but we had fun getting ready for it. Jerre (my mrs) and I watched what there was of it from our yard. At least, the trip home didn't take long. I have a connection to the eastern side of Iowa. My ancestral family on my Dad's side, moved from New York before the Civil War and settled in Jackson Co near Andrew. I have several ancestors buried in the area and probably still have cousins running around. Have fun with your photography.
Andrew is not too far from me. There is an old limestone insane asylum there that is picture worthy.
