CG Cutter Confidence headed out to escort MV Ocean Energy into Guantanamo Bay. Been really, really windy for the last few weeks- which has made kayak fishing difficult... had forgotten I get seasick... but fish don't mind waves.

Back in the 50s I spent about a year on a tin can plane guarding carriers stationed out of Guantanamo Bay. Wasn't bad duty.

Those were the good times, Hal, when you could head out the back gate and visit Caimanera for adventure, stories and cultural exposure... Today, we're confined and restricted and, given there are no commercial flights in or out, it's a hardship assignment- and counts as shipboard duty. I'm not sorry I came here- I do like to fish- but, am definitely ready for something with a bit more variety...
I was stationed there as the Operations Officer for a PSU in 2006 as part of JTF . Not to bad of duty except for being confined to the base. The snorkeling wasn't to bad.

You're right, Keith, snorkeling isn't bad except that Cable Beach is closed (a drowning end of 2018), so's "The Slot" and Kittery Beach... and other areas for reasons unknown... SCUBA was big two years ago but after a seven month ban because there wasn't a doctor trained to operate the decompression chamber, SCUBA hasn't been the same since... Drinking seems to be on the rise though... I think JTF folk do eight month tours now... lots of tents.
Very good capture, Fuminous.

Thank you Earnest- your comments are appreciated!
Great shot. Lot of detail on the Cutter if you Download(+). Certainly not a day for a weak stomach.
