I am aware of a young man and a young woman, high school friends, who intended to enlist in the armed services when they came of age. Both are now in college, yet each intends to, if necessary, interrupt their educations and enlist at the end of whatever semester they are in when the present President is no longer in office. They are thankful that a Draft Act cannot force them to serve under such a “Commander in Chief”.
Food for thought if one is dismissive of the thoughtful opinions and patriotism of our youth.

AH, the ignorance of youth. Tell them to finish college, enroll in OCS and make a contribution to the service of their choice. They only have five more years to finish college.

They have considered that. One, now a registered Republican from a Republican Party family, is pursuing law school, the other, a registered Democrat from a Democratic Party family, is in pre med...are now in different universities, but both are committed to serving starting at “ground zero” as enlistees.
I agree that there are valid points of argument on both sides, but I do admire their rational, independent, considered perspectives in this uniquely unfortunate and aberrant period in American history, and greatly admire the personal commitment of each. They are, and will always be (IMO) the sorts of Americans that America needs.
Just my considered opinion, as each is entitled to theirs.
