Right now I am leaning toward the Canon, but dang it is hard to choose as they both have their strong points! Thanks for commenting

You are welcome, good luck with the decision. Mostly boils down to what you are looking for.... I like the zoom that sx40 offers, but really think the FZ40 does better (by a couple of hairs) with macro...
