Nicely Done Lesley. For me I like both of them. But by doing what you did help bring more color, saturation and detail into the finished photo.

Thanks Bob..

I like the black and white most.

Thanks. I think that this is one of those scenes where color is actually a distraction.

#2. I went to lunapic.com and first adjusted the sharpness a bit, then I used a surreal effect to get some pop.

Here are a few examples. The "after" shots were used for previous challenges, so now I get to include the "before" shots as well.
- First set - minor color correction and lighting adjustments on a RAW file ETTR.
- Second set - major color correction lighting adjustments, plus cropping to highlight the curve of the antler versus the curve of the rock wall in the background.
- Third set - tweaked contrast and sharpness, straightened a bit, and then converted to B&W for a more dramatic effect.

Very fine examples here. Really like what you did to #2, #3. Do I see 3 giraffe’s in first set!! Well Done.

I want to thank Larry for his Free Sunday challenge and Lorima for hosting “In-Complete or Unfinished” and those who posted in “The No Host, Just Post” all has a lot of great post in them.
This challenge may not be what some people think. It will require 2 photos of the same shot taken. In other words the first photo posted will be Straight Out Of Camera only, no touch up.
And the second photo will be what you did to make the same shot look more interesting, enticing or just “POP”. Or even just re-cropping for better composition. And give a brief explanation of what you did in the 2nd photo.

Or if someone has a picture that they want you to process it for better results.

#1 Straight out of Camera.
#2 Cropped to remove the houses to better show straightness with trees, and remove hand.
Added wording to explain weather. A lot of you have seen this one previously.

#3 Straight out of Camera
#4 Added to the HUE's and stepped up the colors, cropped to center flags a little better.

Great topic for a challenge and great start as well. Here are my first set:

#1 SOOC / Raw converted to JPG
#2 Using Photoscape X: checked the Magic Color box, upped the contrast a tad and sharpen a tad.

From the archives. 1- SOOC, 2 and 3 obviously changed in post. My preference is the B&W. Comments appreciated. ( Good, bad, or whatever). OOPS, got the order wrong. 2 is the original

Nice examples boberic. Like both processed, maybe over cropped in B/W version, like the tire marks help draw to center of pic. Just my opinion.

Life is too short to look for exotic ways to make photography more complicated than necessary.

This image was hand-held at about sundown. The exposure was at ISO 400 1/250. The aperture (f/11) is not in the EXIF because the lens was a manual focus Zeiss on an A& II with a Metabones Leica M E mount adapter. The camera was set to Daylight WB. The scene's DR was very wide. The shutter speed was selected by watching for the start of the Zebra warnings in the sky.

The only adjustment in the edited image was some shadow recovery using Capture One 20. I did not touch the Exposure slider, color or anything else. I wanted to preserve the feeling of the time of day.

You can find a little noise if you pixel peep. I could have avoided that by shooting at 1/60 and ISO 100 but the shadows are very dark.

It is, after all, a snapshot.

Mighty fine example here selmslie. You gave good explanation of what you did and why you did it. Like the end results. Thanks for sharing.
