Price difference: D750 vs. D750 w/ 24-120mm lens?
Not to hijack the thread, but how does the Sigma 24-104 f/4 compare to the Nikon 24-120???

I have never seen that lens for that price... When does that happen? That lens has been on my list for some time now, I'm saving up for it. It's to use on my D700, if I can find it for that price I can probably spring for it (if I convince my wife :) )
NikonJohn..I think the sale was last Nov. It lasted a month or so at all the outlets. The better lens, 24-70mm f2.8 was NOT on sale and I needed a good mid range tele. so I went for the next best. I am hoping to up my gear next spring to a D810 and a 24-70.

I was just thinking that the Sigma should be in this discussion. When I was looking for a midrange zoom, I was looking at these two lenses, but never tried them. I think they are really close in performance, because a bunch of people said they liked the Nikon more and another bunch said the Sigma was better.
I think the price of the Nikon 24-120mm f/4 was rebated for holiday sales, but also seemed to coincide with the release of the Sigma 24-105mm. Once the dust settled from the Sigma release, the rebate went away.

Does this sound right? The Nikon D750 is $2296.95 (at B&H) and the D750 w/24-120 f4 lens is $3596.95.
$1300 for the this kit lens sounds like a lot.
it's not your average kit len's and it's more than likely a f2.8 or faster . it doesent seem like a discount . but lookup the len's price . and if your not saving at least $300 on the len's alone don't buy .

Where in the world do you come up with the idea that an F4 lens is "more than likely a f2.8 or faster."??????

I'm just guessing , a 24 -120mm f4 sounds a bit much for $1300 or more .you can get a lot better than that for the money . 18-200 mm

The price is right. They are just not giving you a deal on the F/4. It's not what I would call a "kit lens". It's F/4 straight through. When they sell them together it just gives the implication that it is a kit.
I am watching this one close for some positive or negative feedback from the hogs. A full frame with a tilt LCD screen is what I have always wanted. It would be a HUGE upgrade from my 5100 now that I am slowly mastering exposure better with a lot of help from the hogs.
I think that I would wait on the lens though. I have a 70-200 VR11 2.8 and a 50 1.8 that I can use for now. However I have never even shot video and I have no interest at this time.
:)

The 18-200 is a DX lens only and it's not suitable for a full frame camera such as the D750.

The 24-120 is not a kit lens in fact it's a great carry around lens
The 24-120 F4 that came with my D750 Body is my "everyday go-to" lens. It is great.

The 24/120 f4 might be included as part of a kit, but it is not a kit lens. It is f4 through its entire range. Its awesome.
I can second the emotion. I recently purchased this package from JD750 and the 24-120 f4 is a Nano coated, gold ringed pro-grade lens and it’s SHARP. I am enjoying it so much that I haven’t even tried the 50mm f 1.8 that he threw in.
I have not regretted this purchase for one second!
I purchased the D750 with the 24-120 F/4 VR lens Refurbished through Nikon for only $1750 nearly 2 years ago. Who ever is trying to sell this to you for full list price is crazy. It is on sale right now through Nikon for $1999.95 (an $800 savings).
My 24-120 F/4 VR lens hardly leaves the body of my D750. If I am doing and event I'll put this lens on my D7200 and put my 70-200 F2.8 VR on the D750. Either way it is always with me as my most used lens. I am a lens-aholic and have way too many that I thought I had to have. I find it amazing that my "kit lens" is my favorite.

Thanks Erv. I am seeing some used D600's out there. I'm wondering if I should have gone for a used D600 instead of a new D7100. But, like I said, I am happy with my D7100.
I can't speak for Canon, I've been a Nikon guy for my 30 years in photography, but I will say this. My current main body is a D810, but to this day my D600 is with me. It's lighter and at 24MP the only difference you see in sharpness from the 36MP is if you want to print 8' by 10' murals. I feel it's the best FF (pound for pound) that Nikon has ever made. The custom menu banks are super handy once you learn to use them. I have never used a D7100 but I will bet my next paycheck that you will be amazed going to the "entry level" D600. I also use a D4S for sports, because it's fast...but it's a true professional body and is a tank to use. Unless you are a professional photo journalist or sports photographer the 600 is even better than the D4S.
I'll bet you can find a good used one on B&H or Adorama, just be aware that lenses for FF are MUCH more expensive, on the other hand, if you shoot a lot, it's well worth investing in 2 good ones for general use.
