Nikon D7000 Shutter Count

I am in need of help finding the shutter count on a D7000.

Did a search in the owner's manual for "Shutter count" and "Shutter-count" and could not find anything.
Also searched the camera's menu and did not find anything there either.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Carl

It's very easy with Nikons.

Get Irfanview (free) and also get the plug-ins for it. Start the program, open a photo, click on Image > Information > Exif info. Or you can just press I and/or E to get lots of info.
Get ExifInfo - also free. Unzip and get the icon onto the Desktop. Find a photo and drag it onto the icon. A window will open with loads of info. Look down the list for Shutter Count (or whatever they call it).

I use one that jerryc41 listed above. It's http://regex.info/exif.cgi. I used it on one of my recent D7000 photos My D7000 only has about 2,600 shutter clicks. I had one before it that I used a lot. This is my second D7000. I now also shoot with a D500 and D750.

Excellent links. I own a 4 year old Nikon DSLR. It was new when I bought it, so I'm not concerned yet. My camera is suppose to have a 100,000 shutter count lifespan. Supposedly?

Some last a lot longer, some shorter. New shutters are not all that expensive to have put in.

If you have a Mac you can use Preview;
1. Open the last image taken with the camera using 'Preview'
2. Click 'Command' and 'I' keys together
3. In the window that opens up, click on the tab with the label 'i'
4. Click on the 'Nikon' tab
5. The camera shutter count is number five on the list of items.

Thanks to you all for the information. It worked very well and I am in good shape with only 15,000 count and have used only 9% of the shutter life.

Any ideas as to why Nikon does not include the shutter count in the camera's menu?

Thanks again.

Neither does Canon or Sony include the shutter count in the camera's menu.

Niles, if you use a pc, Irfanview is a free 3 MB download that will always give you the shuttercount at least on cameras that used embedded exif data and more;
https://www.irfanview.com/
We've used it on our pc's for years, no information leaves your computer, it's always available, and it's an extremely fast editor with a great plugin package available, though doesn't have a pretty PS/LR interface. I recommend downloading from the owner's site or majorgeeks.com; have never had a complaint. PIE is also a decent program if you try the free version, but sometimes it's hard to delete; not sure why it should be but it can be. Good luck, happy shooting.
