Yesterday, while on the way home from South Georgia, we encountered the Glory Hill Cowboy Church. I didn't know there was such a thing as Cowboy Church so we stopped for a few shots. After I got home, my friend Google filled me in on the fact that there are many Cowboy Churches. However, this one was so charming that I will always regard it as a special find!

What a lovely set... thank-you so much. It reminds me of being camera-less when rounding a bend on a dusty side road in So Cal on my motorcycle, when popped up a similar sized and quaint looking “Motorcycle” Church. Guess we can all use a prayer as we motor on by.

Happy New Year!

Thank you, Bruce. It is nice to hear from so many that already know about Cowboy Churches!

A friend of mine has been to the one east of Dallas, in Ennis or somewhere out there. She liked it.

We have numerous Cowboy Churches here in eas Texas. Many of them have arenas for family oriented horse activities. Many early churches were no more than a gathering of true cowboys to worship. Many rodeos have some type of service before Sunday activities.

There are several around North Alabama. I have never attended one.

Thank you! I haven't encountered a motorcycle church yet but now I'm going to see if there are any near here. We do have a biker bar called The Cabbage Patch. It is well known and probably a good photo op.
Being camera-less is a mistake we all make at times.

It sounded good to me. Not overly formal and very welcoming. Plus the family activities are appealing.

It has really pleased me to find out more about these churches. Now that I know there are a lot of them in some areas, I will be on the look-out.

Great images!
From time to time I do some CAS (Cowboy Action Shooting) and if there is a major shoot out that covers 2 days - Sat and Sun, they will hold a Cowboy Church Service at the event on Sun.
I have been at Cowboy Church services at a New England rodeo once. Wherever cowboys and cowgirls meet on a Sunday a Cowboy Church Service will be held.

That’s what I figured out when I did some research. I was surprised that I had never seen one before.

This makes sense since cowboy culture is popular all over the country. Next time we are in South Georgia I am going to try to visit this one on Sunday.

Next time I am in that area, I hope to visit. I am very interested in how the interior of the church looks.

When I was living in Michigan I came across a small country church that offered a "drive thru prayer window"..................

Where in Michigan is the Drive Thru church?

There are quite a few Cowboy Churches here in Texas, mostly in rural areas. Some have arenas to practice your roping and riding skills. Jeans, boots and spurs are encouraged. Thanks for sharing your photos!

Yep I guess we all need beef- cowboys need to learn their skills somewhere 😅
