Mine was a Minolta 101 with a 50mm f/1.4 (wow!), 28mm f/2.8 and 135mm f/28 both Vivatar. Yes I would like to forget the 400mm f/6.3 Spiratone. A lot of hard work to get a so-so picture. Don't want to forget the 2x extender. A Honeywell flash. B&W and closeup filters. A bag to keep it all in. What did you have? - Dave

I was still happy as a lark to have and use the KIT I bought while in Vietnam, 1968. That was a Pentax(asahi) spotmatic, the Pentax 50mm f1.4 and a Pentax 200mm telephoto lens. Kept it all for many years, never saw anything I liked better, for quite a long time. RJM

Mine was almost exactly the same! Differences are that I had an SRT 202 in addition to the 101 and a Spiratone 500mm mirror lens. Still have them all but just keep them on the shelf above my Nikon DSLR stuff.

In 1975 I was only 8... but my Dad thought me to shoot with his Zeiss Contaflex.

The first camera I bought was a Soviet made Zenith E with a 50mm F2 kit lens. I got that in 1980 in a flea market for a laughable amount of cash.

Later on I added a 35-105 F4 to 7, I believe... can't remember the brand. Ah, and a BIG Vivitar flash, of those that had to be mounted on a rail.
Both were bought used from a retired photographer.

The worst problem of that really-truly basic body, was the absolute lack of a means to achieve good focus. You just watched trough the viewfinder and turned the focus ring until the subject looked in focus.

And you had to manually close the apperture ring.

And the exposure meter was manual and based on a photovoltaic cell which was highly unacurrate.

That might be the reason why it landed on flea market.

Can't believe I got some decent results with that crap.

Probably a Miranda Sensorex with 50mm and 135mm as well as a Soligor T-4 210mm zoom. I bought color and B&W film in 100' cans and rolled it into cartridges. I also had an 8mm movie camera and a Yashica 124 TLR.

I much prefer digital with instant "developing."

Nikomat (yes) with a 50mm f/1.4, a 24mm f/2.8, and a 135mm f/2.8. The Nikomat was bought by a friend in Japan, then he decided he didn't need 2. There was also a Vivitar (IIRC) zoom that pretty much sucked compared to the Nikon stuff. Used this kit until around 2002, when I went digital. Still have it all, if anyone's interested in making an offer...

I think I had some sort of Instamatic. Wish Iā€™d started earlier! My first DSLR was a Nikon N90.

Nikkormat FTN, Nikon F2, several Nikon prime lens (50mm 1.4 and 2.0), 135mm 3.5, 28mm 2.8, and yes, the Spiratone 400mm. I can't even remember the brand of the flash, but it used the shoulder carry battery pack. The battery would last forever, and the flash recycled in about 2 seconds. Made it great for weddings.
