hahahahahahahahahahaha.....like yours isn't, man!!!
I like that "unsolicited" especially. I didn't know I needed a special invitation to post. So, are you the one that will send me my invitation? I won't stay awake at night waiting for it!!!!!
Actually, I thought my post was pretty fair and didn't treat Rockwell like the end all and be-all like many of you are doing. I haven't read a Rockwell review in years now. I read Hogan, who is probably TOO hyper critical and Steve Perry. Rockwell, however, was a good starting place for me when I first got into digital photography. If you're shooting lower end Nikon's he's great because he's not hyper critical or technical about the lenses. Hogan is much more technical and perhaps too hyper critical. His list of acceptable lenses for the D850, for instance, is very short. Many of the lenses that you or I would use on it are not on his list. However, he does provide food for thought working from that end of the spectrum. Steve Perry provides highly useful information on both cameras and lenses from having used the equipment that he reviews quite thoroughly.

This is so bad you cannot believe he would post it in his Christmas card .
First the choice of background ..Clearly a motel room ..door with crash bar and a trouser press .Very professional .
The son clearly crouched unnaturally with the "Rockwell smile" . The object is to look pleasant not to overdo the smile aspect .
Oh Ken ,you have fallen so low, did you not learn about the profile of people in the back row ? Oh yes being half hidden.
I am not a fan of old men touching young girls so the hand on the shoulder is a no no for me.
Daughter partially behind mum .good looks intimate , facial expressions good .the men rubbish.
I assume there was a bed in the room..how many times have we posed bridesmaids around a bride sitting on the bed? Or KISS .. mum on a chair and the family standing grouped around .
Stick to palm trees. Taco outlets etc Ken

Wow, who pissed in your bowl of Cheerios?? I bet you are the type of person, that when you put someone else down, it makes you feel more important! Kudos to you!!
Ken influenced my first decision to buy my first DSLR, the Nikon D40. I often resort to his site when gathering info. He seems to be a like-able, opinionated and down-to-earth guy. Jared Polin is another photographer I like. He makes the most entertaining photo-info videos I've seen.
Ken Rockwell gives you understanding, in simple terms, about Nikon owners of cameras and lenses. When you read his analysis of Nikon DX Gear. He opens your mind, like no others. If I want to know about most Nikon cameras. He's the Go To Guy. I like him. I'm not going to stop reading his articles, because of one family photo on this post.
Maybe, just maybe, Rockwell has got out of this what he set out to get: your comments and chatter. Why not send him a donation? He does what he does to aid us.

I concur with your initial statement, as the Nikon D40 was my first DSLR, largely because of Rockwell.
Perhaps of interest to those who follow Rockwell is that he has started to do YouTube videos. I found his videos on the Nikon Z50 and lenses for it to be informative.
He is one of many resources we have today.
Is this of real interest to anyone?
The initial posted photo' was the family group. Other (better/sharper) single pic's didn't show up till later.
I only wish I had been able to make so many contributions to photography as he has.

After reading what is below your post and I quote "50% of hog members have an IQ below 100 and 34% below 50 so be careful who you trust" I understand you to be a mean spirited person that has a vendetta against most everything. Hope I am wrong and you find a more productive way to spend your time.

Ken seems to be doing OK...You seem to be "Pissed and Broke".... Happy New Year!!
I see I am coming in late on page 5. So it isn't a great photo. If we were to criticize everyone I could mention the OP says it is in a motel room. Maybe a motel but surely not a room. That crash bar on the door is in a hallway, not a room. Who has seen a crash bar in a room? Not me. The father's hand on the shoulder is definitely not a No No at all. Perhaps some have just seen too much of Joe Biden lately as in the past 20-30 years. Fathers are allowed to demonstrate love for their daughter by touching so long as not inappropriately. This is not inappropriate.
That is all I have. Is it a bad photo in my opinion? While not up to professional or even talented amateur status it does make a decent snapshot, the type we all see here every day on UHH and many of us rave about that type of photo. "Great capture Fred, love the shadow areas, never seen a better photo of a duck and so on.
