Hi guys. Just looking for some ideas really. I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ200 and for Christmas I was gifted a lovely solid tripod. I haven't been taking many pictures of late and want to try something new. I will do a few car shows probably but as something more general I was thinking maybe landscapes or macro to put the tripod to use. Any other suggestions welcomed. Just want to use my camera to its strengths. TIA

You could try Astronomical Photography, night photography other than astro, HDR, Long Exposure, Architectural.

If you have any appetite for street photography your FZ200 will be very unobtrusive and unintimidating, not to mention very portable.

Generally speaking, a tripod is used either for long exposures or high magnification like telephoto or macro applications. I use mine mostly for birds and other wild animals. Sometimes I find it useful in dimly lit situations.

Street photography is something I'd never considered so that's well worth a thought cheers. I hear you the tripod is there for when I need it more than anything. Thought Christmas was a good time to ask for one in order to save myself some money lol.

Go to google and type in these words, "tell me how to take better photo's" you will then get hundreds of video's you can watch. Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

In that case I would do some research using google maps/earth sky and street view.
In particular, the River Deben looks like it should have some great opportunities.
Examples include sunrises at the numerous boat docks and wildlife that is sure to be there.

Then check out places like St Mary the Virgin church. I'll bet they allow you to go inside.

The Deben was top of my hit list as it also runs straight through my village. I sure will post here when I've been out

The FZ200 can take some great macro photos. I've owned a couple Lumix cameras (FZ150, FZ1000) and have had a lot of fun with them. My daughter has the FZ300 now. There's a nice gentleman on YouTube, Graham Houghton, who has done quite a few videos specifically on how to get the most out of the FZ200. He has some great advice on how to do some stunning macro, landscape, and still life photos.

The main issue (which you're probably already aware of) is the small sensor, so low-light situations aren't very fun.

I've made the jump to full frame mirrorless with my Z6, but don't regret my time shooting with the Panasonic bridge cameras.

Thanks. I have been studying up with Graham's videos on landscape. I have done a little bit of macro work and don't mind it to be honest just feel where I live there is some stunning landscapes to be shot (now I've thought about it haha). I just want the camera to get me through another year or so and get me back into taking photos more often more than anything. I picked it up for £100 brand new last January so it won't owe me anything 😄
