Uniform Identification

Anyone think they can identify the uniforms? They would be from the very early 1900's I believe.

I'm guessing German Navy on the right, German Army on the left. German Army during WW1 in 1914, had helmets similar in looks to the German Army of WW2. This could be, as you say, early 1900s. Before WW1. I'm guessing remember?

The original is not too sharp. I couldn't read the inscription on the hat even with a magnifying glass.

I would guess German left Army and German right Navy. The beer steins are another giveaway.

From those fancy beer steins I would say Imperial German, one Army, one Navy.

The coal shuttle helmets didn't come along until 1916, prior was the spiked Pickelhaube.

This is a photo found among the belongings of a grand aunt. She was born in 1900 so would have been a teenager during the war. Her brother, my grandfather, served in France during the war. The "x" above the sailor was on the photo already. There is an interesting family story here. We'll never hear it though. That generation is long gone as the next nearly is. My generation is becoming the "oldies".

My guess is the left trooper is an air svc member, and the right side more likely a naval member.

Goo0gle image recognition failed, but here's my opinion: The uniform on the right suggests navy, and the beer steins suggest Germany.
