As far as I am concerned you could take ONLY the 35-70 on one camera and the 18-300 on the other and bring back some wonderful photos.

Why not take it all?
You have invested in a lot of expensive gear, so obviously you know what it is for and the use of it.
Yosemite is a big subject (Literally) and each piece you have would have a use from small flowers, scenery, portraits of those you are with and dozens of other scenarios. Also getting there will provide unlimited opportunities for photos at night etc.

Why leave anything behind? If you have room, take it all. If you are there and wish you could use anything left behind, you will not forgive yourself!

Is it a photo trip or a vacation with other people's feelings to consider? You might be as surprised as I am that conflict can develop as you fiddle with cameras, lenses, tripod, filters, shot angles, waiting for the right light, on and on. It can make for some bristle-y driving to half-dome. At least discuss with your carmates before choosing your gear.

I see you’re in NC. Long trip to Cali. FWIW I have formed a habit that I have come to enjoy on far from home trips. That is to take one or at most two lenses. Keeps the carry on light and forces me to walk to my desired spot for the shot. I find the challenge entertaining. Our last two week trip to Hawaii island in May, on the Kona side, I carried only an Olympus body and the 7/14 lens. Had a wonderful time and am pleased with many of the shots I made.

But that’s just me. Intended only as food for thought. Enjoy your trip regardless of how you choose to handle it as it’s really quite personal.

Why leave anything behind? If you have everything with you, you'll be able to pick whats best for the situation on hand!

Based on your choice of lens (excluding the Nikon 35-70 and the 18-300) it won't matter much what you take, you will get unacceptable results.

I totally agree! Four weeks in National Parks and my 16-85 was on my camera 95% of the time. The rest of my gear was dead weight.

Did you say, unacceptable results? Forgive me but that must be a typo. I would think anybody could achieve acceptable results with almost any lens on any camera. Maybe I am missing something.

IMO I would take the D750 with the 35-70 and buy a Tokina 11-16mm for the D500 ($225-$275). Most important would be having a wide angle while there and making use of a tripod and cable release. Shoot mostly at F/5.6-F/11 and ISO 100!
What you do not say is if you will be with people who are in a rush or on a bus that is on a schedule. I would not bring everything if this is so.

You have a lot if good equipment but it sounds like you're not satisfied with your results. One thing I've had to learn is to move to the left or right, closer or farther away, shooting from lower perspective or different angle, so I'm not stuck with just one view. Also, I tend to tilt slightly or include too much sky or foreground, so I have to be mindful of how I'm pointing my camera. It lessens my post processing time considerably when I pay attention.

Whatever you take, plan ahead for the kinds of shots you want. Otherwise you’ll be searching for the right lens or the right body at any given time.
