Olympus M10 Mk iii with Zuiko 14-42 pancake kit lens, and a used Zuiko 40-150 (kit) zoom lens. Starting over after a couple decades of film and digital point-and-shoots. Label on the gift wrap said it was from my wife; how nice of her.

I bravely fought off a GAS attack for the EOS R that was on sale. Reasoned with myself that my Canon 7D Mk II and Canon 6D Mk II are sufficient for now. I'll wait awhile for a later model. I (ahem, my husband) did buy a used Tamron 15-30 f2.8 G2 lens and a Canon 1.4x III extender. I was very pleasantly surprised that I could hand hold the 7d Mk II with 100-400 II lens with the extender with pretty good results. Now, for playtime!

I have seen the term GAS since joining this forum. Please forgive my ignorance but what does it mean?

You are not ignorant for not knowing a term used here at the forum. I didn't know what that meant either when I first came to the table.

GAS stands for Gear Acquisition Syndrome. It is the overwhelming desire for and insatiable lusting for photography equipment no matter how expensive or inexpensive it may be.

The worst part of learning this new phase is something I equate with my gainful employment. As I am a pharmacist I kept wondering if I were going to need Simethicone for gas relief. LOL

Happy Shooting!

Attached is a picture of my newest, latest camera. Actually no. While searching in the garage for something else I found this relic that belonged to my father. It dates back to the middle/late 1920s. Printed in the inside of the back case was his offer for a reward if returned and his name, address and phone number. It has very little monetary value but to me it is tie to the past.

That is a true gem. The best part it belonged to your father. May I offer a suggestion? Consider purchasing an acrylic box to protect it from dust and handling. Every now and then, you can take it out of the box. And Woosh! Your back in the Roaring Twenties at a Speakeasy with a gorgeous Flapper hanging off your arm. Enjoy!

Happy Shooting!

I happily treated myself to a new lens, a Sigma 24-105mm 1:4 DG "Art" lens. Although I own several full frame cameras, this particular lens will be used on a D7200; first time using a full frame lens on a crop sensor body. I’m sure the results will be spectacular!

It’s not a term that’s photography specific. It can occur with just about any hobby. It’s tough when GAS funds have to be split between photography and kayaking.

No equipment for me this Xmas.

My wife and I spent week before Christmas on a Bahama cruise where our eldest daughter married. 32 of our friends all cruising together. Fantastic!

Surprised my wife with wedding ring upgrade.

Spoiled only Grandchild with a truckload of toys. And donated toys and food to needy families.

Happy New Year.

The sentimental value to you is worth more than anything. I still hang on to my father’s wind up Kodak regular 8mm movie camera, for which I cannot find film or processing, just as a part of him. I also have his movie projector and most, if not all the movies he shot during my and my older brother’s lives. My Daddy passed away in 1966. Still miss him to this day.

The Canon 90D was mentioned on another post. I was impressed it had 32.5 megapixels. For a crop sensor, that should give excellent resolution. Enjoy it.

Thank you so far I like it.

A used Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 vr G lens in mint condition for $500. Thought it was a fair deal.

Well Christmas is over. My credit card is finished with Xmas gifts this year. I set a Xmas limit of $2700, and was able to treat myself out of that limit, to a new Nikon AF-P DX 10-20mm wide angle zoom lens. Price $277. I needed a wider zoom lens than my kit lens, an 18-55mm. I gave bottles of red and white wines to some of my friends, along with giving a half dozen SanDisk 64gb Ultra SD cards to them. Non photography gifts to close relatives were the bigger part of my budget. There are/were some good camera deals this year. The best one I saw, was the Canon 5D Mark 4 camera, selling Brand New for $2000, and the Nikon SB-700 flash unit selling for $296. Nikon and Canon had their customary entry-level, 2 lens kits. Nikon had D3500/D5600 two lens bundle kits. Sold mostly everywhere. What photography equipment did you treat yourself to this Xmas? I call it. From Me To Me Xmas Gifts.

I now have a new to me Nikon D7200 (used in excellent condition with only 28K shutter count). I am learning the new placement of buttons and the enhancements over my D3400. My wife buys very little camera stuff for me as she is not at all knowledgeable about photography.
