I am running LR Classic (subscription version) on a MacBookPro using macOS Catalina.
My workflow is to download images from camera to a folder called "Edit Queue". But every time I import I have to reselect Edit Queue, starting from the top of the folder tree. I have looked for a way to set the import location but I have not found it.
Is there a way to set Lightroom Classic (subscription version) to a default folder so that when selection FILE->Import it defaults to that location?
Have you got select the "Current/Previous Import" collection during import box checked in general tab in preferences.
I'm not sure if you are loading the images into your computer before importing them to Lr or if you import into your computer via Lr.
My reccomendation is to use Lr to import images into your computer to put them into their final destination folder otherwise it is just double handling.
You always have to select the source when importing

Thank you altheman, you have answered my question.
My workflow is to import from the camera to a folder on the hard drive, then rename all the images. Sometimes I do a quick "garbage delete" for the obvious rejects. Then I import the images into LR after that.

Still interested to know if during import you click on "copy" or "add" the reason I ask is you would save yourself a lot of time if you import your images directly into Lr and then use the reject flag as you go through them and then delete all your rejected images at once when you have been through them. This is my work flow and sometimes when there is a large number of images to edit I am still rejecting/deleting images on the second or third time I go through them.

You do realize that there is a more efficient way to import images into your LR catalog.
1. Start Lightroom. Open the Library Module
2. Insert your card into the reader. Click import. At this point it will import to the previous location. If you hover over the upper right corner of the import screen, you can open a dialog that allows you to create a destination folder on the fly. Create it and select it.
3. You can either review the files to import before you import, or you can import them and review them afterwards.
4. If you create an import preset, you can apply basic adjustments and renaming simply by specifying to use the import preset.
5. Import the images to their destination.
It is far easier to work within LR's catalog, to designate ratings, apply keywords, perform file management, etc than to first import them to a generic "import" folder and move them around later.
