The Costco and Sam's Club near me have eliminated their in store photography department. It is all on line now. I recently used Mpix for holiday gifts and the shipment was delayed because UPS delivered it to the wrong PO. Mpix customer service was wonderful. Kept in touch with me and when 2 days went by without the shipment they printed it again and shipped it with FedEx. I recently saw a list of online places to have images printed and Mpix was 10th out of 10. Where do you get your prints if you don't print them yourself? Thanks in advance.

Do you mean that they no longer stock cameras and equipment, or that their photo print shop has been shut down, or possibly even both?
So are ALL Costco photo centers going away (which the thread title implies),
or just the low volume/profit ones?
If everyone goes someplace else because they heard that Costco Photo Centers are closing,
that'll surely help kill them.
Our Sams Club in Sanford Florida just dumped their camera department. I'm wondering about the local Drug stores, The last time I looked they still had some equipment in their stores. I know the local target had store a good while back.

For Costco go to
https://www.costco.com/, select "Find a Store" at the top of the page, insert your Zip-Code and check the Photo Center box and click on the "Find a Warehouse" button at the bottom of the dropdown. A map will then appear with a list of Costco Warehouses in the left column in order of distance from your location.

I have had great success with Walmart amazingly enough. I will say that some of my clients printed at Costco and they made terrible work of my photos. No depth in color and they were grainy. When the client printed elsewhere these problems didn’t exist. Very strange!
Some Walgreen's have in house machines for printing from thumb drives.
Lab choice reality check:
If you don’t set the white balance correctly...
If you don’t use a monitor made for photography and graphic arts...
If you don’t calibrate that monitor monthly with a hardware-based solution (colorimeter or spectrophotometer from X-Rite or Datacolor)...
If you don’t send an industry standard reference image to your lab and compare the print they make to the image on your screen to check calibration accuracy (and recalibrate to different “aim points”)...
If you don’t use the lab’s preferred ICC profile...
If you don’t use the lab’s printer profile as your proofing profile...
Then don’t complain about print quality!
Communicate with your lab! Ask them about everything I mentioned above. I’m pretty sure they’ll tell you the same, if they are honest. (And if they’re pros!)
Otherwise, you can pay them extra to adjust your images, and still get inferior results.
Another vote for White House Custom Colour. Plus - I broke down and bought a Canon Pro-1000 printer this month.

The in store photography departments in our Costco’s in San Ramon and Concord (CA) are still open. Aside from MPIX, I use BayPhoto (Scott’s Valley, CA) and White Wall (Germany), which I think are also both outstanding! I find MPIX to be the best of the three for skin tones.

I use Printique, which is the new name for Adorama Pix. If you get on their mailing list, You will see when they have sales. I save up what I want printed and then upload to their site when they have a sale. I have been very happy with them
Snapfish does a good job and good prices.
I use meridan pro. 16x 20 on metallic paper. Love them
Talked to a lab tech at the only Costco in my area with a lab...still... and he said they are just not making money at it. They will be closing our lab in Albuquerque in about 5 years. Too bad, too.
