New to this forum but not to photography having been involved with SLRs for 60 yrs. Enjoying this site and all the help so generously given.
I am in the Ft Myers area of Florida living on a sailboat. I use a Pentax K7 with various lenses. I bought a 55/300 mm DA Pentax hi end telephoto lens prior to a South Africa safari trip earlier this year and the weather sealed lens has several areas of mould inside. The warranty is past. Could anyone suggest where I might have the lens restored in the Ft Myers area? Or perhaps better, online? And what this might cost?
I am hoping to go FF, probably Nikon, soon so am hesitating as to what to do. The choices are mind boggling. The K7 is woefully lacking in low light performance.

Welcome to UHH Jim, glad you joined us. Sorry to hear about your lens. Have you contacted Pentax to see if it can be repaired? Wish I could upgrade to Nikon FF, not in the budget. Now shooting with Nikon DX, the D7100 and D7200 models. Just up the road from you in Ellenton, Fl.

Jim Welcome aboard. You are a lucky guy to live in Ft Myers area of Florida on a sailboat.
Post images and ask questions. A great way to learn.Consider buying these driers and pack your mold in a sealed box. It might remove the mould.

Many thanks for the suggestions. I will give it a go. Although I will need a car first as we are located in Port LaBelle. Need a car to get a car 😊
