The store is closed. This is what I received from a friend who works there. "Bill retired and in the process of selling. Deal hasn’t gone through yet but we ran out of stock so we closed earlier than expected."
That explains why they are not answering their phone either. Now I'm sitting here with my 9 month old Nikon D5600 that needs a minor repair. Guess I'll be calling on Nikon - Right down the road from Cameta.
Just found out from the Ex-manager, he is retired, its going under new ownership from New Year's. They are going thru transition...

I hate to hear that Cameta Camera is closed. I bought a ton of equipment from them in the past. They were always fair and stood behind their sales.
Sorry to see you go Cameta!

I've purchased gear from them for many years and if I ever had a problem they corrected it immediately. Most of the equipment I purcased was used and I could count on them for rating the equipment accurately.

Dang I hate to hear this. I did order from them occasionally, good people and good service. I hope they open back up soon.
Well this explains why the Sony A7Riii I was looking for was out of stock during this season. I’ve bought several cameras and lenses mail ordered from Cameta and been very pleased. I was waiting for them to restock so I could buy it from them.
When the reappear as a bait-n-switch under new management, be sure to remind people it's not the same company ....
I hope that the new owners are as good as the old ones. I always had good service from them. Will miss them.
I have been using B&H, because of the great service, but also because of their credit card that takes the cost of the tax off. Not a bad deal.

I have contacted a friend who works there and will let you know as soon as he returns my message.
"Contacted"? Was it voice to voice? Or was it a text to his personal phone or message left on his home phone? If none of the preceding and IF this Cameta Camera Store meant anything to me, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for your friend to answer.
Sorry if I sound pessimistic.

EXCELLENT POINT,
assuming that it had a good reputation with its customers just prior to its website being shut down.

YES, he answered me (read previous posts) and not that it matters, the contact was both voice and text.

I truly hope that doesn't happen. In the past, many folks here on UHH have referred to the A, B, and C camera stores....Adorama, B & H, and Cameta. I'd like to think that the prior owner did due diligence in vetting the proposed buyer. I always checked Cameta when researching an item, and occasionally purchased from them.
