Perhaps the Senate should follow the rules of the House and hold the impeachment hearing not letting any Democrats in. They could also not allow them to call any witnesses or ask any questions.

Those rules seemed to be acceptable in the house.

There were lots of Republicants in the hearings before and after an impeachment proceeding was declared. But all they wanted to do was harass the whistleblower.

There were lots of Republicans in the hearings, but they were not allowed to call any witnesses and whenever they asked a question that a witness that was called didn't want to answer they were told that their time was up.

It failed to follow any precedent from previous impeachment hearings and it failed to follow basic U.S. rules concerning the rights of the accused to confront their accusers and call their own witnesses to rebut the claims.

On top of that the obstruction of Congress article of impeachment is totally phony since you can't be obstructing congress for refusing to answer a subpoena until the courts say that you are required to answer it. Since the Supreme Court agreed to hear Trump's case he has not done anything that is obstruction yet. If the court rules that he has to answer the subpoena's and he does not, then he would be guilty of obstruction, but that hasn't happened yet.

As to the other charge, he asked Ukraine to honor a treaty that we have with them to investigate crimes. Since Biden admitted to taking a quid pro quo action, which is what the Dems are claiming that Trump did, it seems reasonable that it should be investigated.

The only similar case in U.S. history is the impeachment of Andrew Johnson, who also had not committed a crime. Remember that Dems started saying that they were going to impeach Trump more than 2.5 years ago and the phone call in question didn't even happen until July. So it is obviously just an excuse. The entire process is a farce and a sham and everyone who doesn't realize that is blind to the facts of the case.

Because the truth is inconvenient for him.

Maybe hold them in secret. The third floor basement secure room sounds fair.
