Since installing Catalina I've had nothing but problems. New one surfaced yesterday and I can't seem to fix it. I was reorganizing my folder system getting ready to move on to 2020, when LR lost track of my folders. Yes, I was doing the reorg from within LR. Simply wanted a few folders under another folder. Now when I try to import, no matter which folder I try to import to, LR picks the same folder and says it is not available so will use my Pictures folder instead, which I do not want. My images are all on an external drive in a pretty good set of folders and structures. I tried to move things back to where they were, but that did not work. I tried deleting the folder that LR goes to, but it still tries to go there and now it is correct, that folder is not available. How can I redirect LR to import to other folders? I have been hesitant to try and fix this in the Finder. EDIT I should have added that LR tries to go to the same folder even though the destination show correctly in the lower right box. I also tried to change the destination in the default auto import preference, but this did nothing. And I checked the file structure in the Finder and it matches the structure in LR. LR just seems stuck importing to the same folder and ignores me when I tell it to import to another folder. EDIT 2 Sorry for all the babble, but I was able to get it to import to the chosen folder. Now it seems LR has a lock on the error message. When I hit ok, and ignore that it says it will use the Pictures file, it actually saves the import to the folder as selected in the Destination. So how do I get rid of the error message? If I use a different catalog, it is not there. Does this mean the problem is in the Cat file?
When I had an issue with moving an image from LR to PS to work on, it would not move. I tried various things within LR to no avail. I begrudgingly called Adobe. To my surprise the wait was not too long. Once speaking with customer service the problem was solved. The longest part of the call was waiting on the download to correct the issue. You may want to consider calling Adobe And have them take a look at your issue.
Good luck.
I know this will sound like sacrilege to some; if you don't mind losing the editing histories of your photos, you could just create a new catalog. Personally, I only use LR to edit, I don't use it as a file system to keep track of anything.
