So, don't kill the messenger who has nothing to sell. Lol

Just a public service.

Sometimes, there will be a trade-off between convenience and the optimal quality, depends on the purpose. I am not getting any younger, can't drag the heavy niceties around anymore, just returned from a cruise, equipped with a pair of Nikon 1 with the 2 extreme zooms, I have never been so happy for a long time.

This is an outstanding lens..(and I had the same issue with the lens lock a few times - ha ha ) ...but I have decided that it is just too much to travel with for me. I originally thought I would use it for some River cruises and for when we go to places like Alaska or the Panama canal....however it is just too much for me to lug on the airplane and ship. I am going to be selling it and have purchased the Tamron 100-400mm instead for the same purpose. Hopefully that will be a better choice for my travels at my age. Loved the photos @whlsdn. Enjoy your lens... it is a great one.

Check with the seller if they removed all the tap in figures at re set it to zero. It could have a nice set of tap in offsets already loaded or a bad set or not .

Interesting thought, Pistnbroke. Since it came from KEH, no telling what lens or lenses the Tap-In has been used with either.

LOL. Nah, no retaliatory strike intended. I really did seriously consider making exactly the choice you tossed into the mix. I just couldn't quite make myself go that way.

Thanks, Buck! That's another issue I've flip-flopped on in the last few years as I plunged deeper into this photo fancy of mine. Always had it, but until recently I didn't have the time nor wherewithal to plunge deeply. Well, and as you can tell, except for a couple of purchases in the last 5 or 6 years, my hobby has existed and flourished on second-hand gear...sometimes acquired on the cheap.

I do have less burdensome lenses to choose from - when I'm hiking or motorcycling. But these days my wife and I do quite a bit of traveling via motorhome, and I have lots of room to carry equipment and have it available. And at home, I can load the Jeep with a variety of options when I head out to favorite spots. When circumstances allow, I choose to carry good - though maybe not "fresh" - glass. But sometimes the Tamron A005 SP 70-300 F/4-5.6 or, on the T6s, even the tiny Tamron B008 18-270 F/3.5-6.3 will win out over the old Canon 70-200 F/2.8 L IS with a 1.4 X available or, now, the Tamron SP 150-600 that started this whole conversation.

Still, my favorite lens for landscape walkabouts on either camera is Canon's 24-105 L, and I'm lucky enough to have one for each of the two Canons - the R and the T6s. Not perfect when I unexpectedly encounter skittish wildlife at a bit of distance, but there ya go.

Down the road, if I keep on being fascinated by this pastime, I may replace that T6s with a 90D. But next, I probably need to sell off some Sony mirrorless gear I've let myself accumulate. I do love the stuff, but I'm such a slow learner these days, I really need to stay focused on learning my Canons.

I rely on my 6D Mark 2, And my older T5i. In some instances I like the T5i best. Maybe it’s because I have spent more time with it !

Buck, I must admit, I'm very comfortable with the T6s!

I've just picked up a second-hand Sony A6000 that I've begun having some fun with too. Don't know that I'll even attempt to master it, as I still have so much to learn about the EOS R, but as along as I settle for Auto mode for now, it's simple as well as really small and light. In a roundabout deal getting lenses for it, I also picked up a dandy little pocket mirrorless - the Sony NEX-5R, but I'm selling it. Near new, and with the right lens fits in a palm (or jacket pocket), but I sure can't justify keeping both.
